The Vale of Clwyd’s Welsh Conservative Senedd Candidate Cllr Gareth Davies has provided his full support for UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Budget which provides major funding increases for the North Wales economy, including an extra £39.6 million for the North Wales Growth Deal which will create up to 3,800 brand new jobs for the area.
Commenting after the Chancellor’s announcement Cllr Davies said “this exciting Budget is yet again showing the UK Government’s long term commitment to the North Wales economy as we start the COVID-19 recovery. During the pandemic the UK Government has kept many in employment through the Furlough Scheme and supported the Welsh economy by giving Wales an extra £5.85 billion to help jobs and businesses survive lockdown restrictions. I'm also pleased to see Wales receive an additional £740 million in 2021-22 and the VAT reduction of 5% remain in place for a further six months for the hardest hit businesses during Covid-19".
Cllr Davies went on to say “The Chancellor’s announcement shows that the Conservatives deliver for North Wales and what we need to see is more cohesion with the UK Government from the Welsh Government to ensure that jobs and businesses in North Wales can feel the benefit of the exciting Budget rather than over £500 million sitting in Cardiff Bay.”
